Sparks to Fly at NAACP?

Today the May jobs reports numbers came out with 80,000 new jobs added to the workforce and a flat unemployment rate maintained at 8.2%. This allows both sides of the isle to spin that number. President Barrack Obama told a crowd in Poland, Ohio today that the jobs report along with the growth of the past 28 months is a “step in the right direction”. Presidential candidate Mitt Romney said of the jobs report, “America can do better, and this kick in the gut has got to end.” One number that is much harder to spin is the jump in the unemployment rate for African Americans. Yesterday morning through journalist Andrew Sullivan and his column in The Daily Beast CNN’s Anderson Cooper officially came out as gay saying, “The fact is, I’m gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud,” While only a few grandmothers in Ohio were actually unaware of this, the “announcement,” it had a huge effect through social media. Anderson Cooper was trending almost the entire day on Twitter with mostly positive and gushing support for the newsman. Our Votertide data shows an amazing spike for him.
