There was no time for reflection after today’s shooting of a security officer outside of the Family Research Council in Washington D.C. The shooting suspect is in custody, wrestled to the ground by the injured officer and others. The Family Research Council is a large advocacy organization that promotes the “traditional family unit” and a Judeo-Christian value system. Both sides are already trying to spin what happened into political leverage.
Based on twitter activity, some on the left seemingly are saying ‘it’s about time’ this group gets some payback. Others are expressing sympathy but reiterating they feel the FRC is a hate group. The right are seeing this a way to turn the “violence” rhetoric away from the tea party types and onto the radical left. Some even are saying the Obama administration appears not to care about an act of violence like this unless it is in their interest. The media is also taking a beating on social media as conservative supporters lambast CNN and MSNBC for their coverage. They are also going after ABC News who reported that the FRC is a James Dobson group. It was founded by James Dobson, but he hasn’t been with the group for a long time. What do you think?

Hi
@cnn, why aren’t you covering the shooting in DC today against the conservative FRC? Doesn’t fit your narrative of “right wing hate?”— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) August 15, 2012
Gun control-
My question is, how was there a shooting at FRC when DC has a gun ban? cc:

Revolution?
A shooting at the FRC? Could the left finally be coming to their senses? Is the revolution I have long dreamed of at hand?

The shooting attack at the Family Research Council is awful, & I totally condemn it. Neverthless, FRC is and remains a far right hate group.

Glass House Rules: if you are gleeful or happy about the FRC shooting, you don’t get to lecture others on hate. Also, get help.
